Check out all possible avenues: built-in cupboards, dressing rooms, free-standing wardrobes, clothes rails, chest of drawers etc. Being aware of your space and being realistic about it will help the next few steps fall into place easily.

Have a clear out

Most of your wardrobe organisation problems will probably trace back to having too many clothes within your wardrobe. Have a clear out of all the items you are storing in there and donate to charity, give to family and friends or sell on. Having a clear out will free up any potential space, allow you to get rid of items you do not like and start your organisation from scratch by removing everything from your closet to begin.

Create a system

Before putting everything back in to your wardrobe, create a system of organisation. Work out storage solutions for your space: shoe storage, hanging system and how you plan to fold your clothes. Having this pre-arranged system will mean the arrangement of your wardrobe will be quick and painless. Sorting your clothes into colours or types can help to organise your wardrobe as you’ll be able to find a blue shirt or black dress super easily and quickly!

Tip: Hang clothes that you wear the most (such as workwear) at eye level so you can access them quickly and easily every morning.

Make the most of your space and be seasonal

With your system, it will be easier to make the most of your space. Add in your storage solutions to your closet to keep things organised and controlled. A great way to make the most of your space is organising your clothes seasonally. Spilt up your wardrobe into four seasons or simply summer and winter. Store away the wardrobe you do not need in storage under your bed, in a cupboard or in the loft. This will prevent overcrowding and keep things looking chic in your closet. It will also make finding your favourite summer/winter pieces super easy in the season.
