The Perfect Girls Lunch

How To Throw The Perfect Girls Lunch

There is nothing better than getting together with all your girlfriends, filling your glasses with a bit of Prosecco and having much needed catch-up. With busy schedules, children and partners preventing you all having that much needed girl-time and with WhatsApp groups not cutting it, invite all your best girlfriends over for the ultimate girls lunch.

Keep your guest list intimate

Don’t feel like you need to invite every Alice, Barbara and Catherine in your address book and keep your guest list intimate by only inviting the friends you truly want to catch up with and as a whole will have great chemistry with the group. You don’t want your girls lunch slighted by awkward silences and introductions between women who have never met.

Decide on a theme

Develop a theme for your girls lunch and make it a real special occasion. Perhaps you all have a film you love like Dirty Dancing so set up your lunch like a 1980s-holiday camp. Or go more traditional with floral table settings or a zen spa experience. Add accessories to your table such as napkin holders that are personalised so your guests can have a keepsake or coasters with their names on.

Activities first, food later

In order to keep the conversation flowing, don’t break up your activities. Earn your dinner and relaxation by first embarking on a fun activity with your guests. This can help break the ice more if you haven’t all seen each in a long time and can help with conversation starters to begin with. It also makes your dinner party stand out by doing something a little extra. After you’ve all had for fun, sit down to a relaxing meal or selection of canapes to enjoy. Finger food is perfect if you are not sitting at a table – don’t feel like it indicates you’ve not shown any effort because it doesn’t present connotations of that at all.

Activity Ideas:

Make beautiful flower crowns

When you are eating nibbling on the delicious food or sipping your drinks in between catch ups, have an activity included in your day to give your friends something to remember. Flower crown making sessions are super popular at the moment as they are easy, fun and give your guests something to take home. You can find organisations online that will come and make them with you or do a budget DIY version yourself. A DIY version is super easy to put together, grab some flowers from the supermarket or your garden, some ribbon and tape from a crafting shop, and metal wire from a hardware shop.

Or get tipsy by mixing some delicious cocktails

Another fun activity to put together on your girls lunch would be a cocktail mixing session. Get the drinks flowing early by hiring an expert mixologist to come and teach you home to make some delicious cocktails. It is easy enough to pull together on your own as well by utilising your bar cart, grabbing some cheap cocktail mixers and some funky glasses for your guests to drink their own creations out of.
