Back-To-School Essentials

The Back-To-School Essentials

The summer holidays are almost over and children all over England will be returning to school. Whether they are starting their first day at primary school, moving up to the next year or taking the leap into secondary school, make sure they are prepared by following our essentials list and nothing will be forgotten.

After a relaxing summer it can be hard to get back into the mindset of the school run, packed lunches, school uniforms and homework. To help frazzled mums and dads everywhere, we’ve compiled a back-to-school kit list to ensure nothing will be forgotten and going back to school will become the easiest thing in the world.

Schoolbags

Schoolbags are an integral part of every child’s uniform. To avoid stress on the first day back, make sure your children’s school bags are in good, working condition in advance. Make any repairs necessary with your sewing kit or if the damage isn’t replaceable, hit the shops to find a new one. Once you have this must-have item, going back to school becomes a whole lot easier.

Tupperware

If making packed lunches is common practice in your household or your children take snacks to school, avoid panic the evening before by ensuring you are all stocked up on Tupperware. Tupperware somehow manages to go missing all the time and to avoid the common situation of no matching lids to boxes, invest in some new pieces. Head to TK Maxx for great offers or take advantage of the back-to-school deals on lunch boxes and Tupperware that most supermarkets offer.

Name labels

To avoid confusion in the changing room or on school trips, invest in name labels for your children. Either opt for stick-on labels embellished with their names or get handy with sewing kit by buying embroidered ones.

Stationery

Get your children organised for their first day back by ensuring they have all the stationery items they need and they can just get straight back to learning. Invest in pencil cases, pencils, sharpeners, rubbers, rulers, etc. if they need new ones but it is good idea to have a sort through of what you already own to avoid buying extra.

Uniforms

Don’t leave uniforms until the last moment! Retailers bring out their uniform options early in the summer so make this one of your priority tasks. You don’t want to get to the night before to realise your child has no school skirts! Take a day to get fully organised with school uniforms and focus on getting everything: clothes, shoes, sportswear and hair ties to make sure nothing is left out and forgotten about to be gotten ‘another day in the summer holidays’!

Water bottle

Keep your little ones hydrated in the classroom by investing in a reusable water bottle. It can be used throughout the summer and gives them a sense of independence if they are responsible for something. Avoid mix-ups by sticking a name label on it.
