4 Themed Birthday Party Ideas For Children

Children’s birthday parties are joy-filled occasions and throwing the perfect celebration for your little one can be stressful. Add something a little extra to the party you are throwing by choosing a theme and running with it. Children often fall in love with the most random things and it will be the best day if they get to spend a whole day with their friends and family surrounded by a theme they love it.

Narrowing down the choice of themes can be difficult as there are so many to choose from! From Pinterest boards to lists shared in national magazines you are not short for choice when it comes to picking a themed birthday party idea. To help inspire you, we’ve come up with four themed birthday party ideas that your little one should love.

Football

FIFA world cup fever wrapped up many of us this summer and we’re sure some of your little one’s love football too. Throw a football themed birthday bash and you’ll permanently be in their good books. This is the perfect party to throw outdoors as you can plenty of football themed games. Have a small game going, a scoring zone for the little ones to try their best at and painting activities where they can draw their favourite team’s shirt or decorate a football. Football shaped cakes are super easy to make as well if you find a recipe online to follow and very common in the supermarket if you want to buy one.

Race car

Inspire your children with the excitement of formula 1 by throwing a race car themed birthday party! Decorate with racing colours, chequered flags and toy race cars to create a track-side feel. Prepare party games such as races so the children can pretend they are in cars or make their own from cardboard boxes which can be picked up at the supermarket from the end of the checkout. A good winding down activity for sleepier children would be watching either Cars or Cars 2 – the perfect finishing line treat!

Pirates

Create the adventure by throwing a swashbuckling birthday party! Encourage the guests to come in full pirate costume and this is another great one to throw outside if it is the right time of year. Turn a sandpit into a treasure island, serve BBQ food that mirrors as food they’ve caught themselves whilst stranded and serve ‘rum’ (apple juice) to your littles after a hard day of seafaring. Turn into a bit of a water party if the weather is on your side by bringing out a paddling pool and the party goers can walk the plank!

Fairyland

Make your little one’s birthday party the most magical of days by curating a theme around one very magical creature: unicorns! From a unicorn inspired cake and decorating their own unicorn horn to guests dressing up as faeries and elves and eating fairy food. If you want a slower activity for the guests to partake, stick on a fairy/unicorn inspired movie. Go wild with the ‘fairy dust’ (glitter) and turn your venue into a magical fairy wonderland.
